Hi all i was at a couple of auctions this week and realised that the style of the auctioneer is very different from place to place i went to a car auction in Nottingham the other day and the item descriptions for the cars is very brief and if you weren’t paying attention then you would of missed it and the speed of them is breath taking ” so fast” again you have to really pay close attention to what they are saying, they took it in terns as the speed of there ranting leaves them breathless which is a good indication of how fast they are.
then i was at a local auction house the day after and the detail and description was much better but then again their were not to things the same and so it was needed, he went through every lot himself and never got out of breath once and as we walked along you could feel his presence and the dominance he had over all the proceedings, he was the boss no doubt about it.
he didn’t waste time ether a very professional approach and slick with it.
the main thing to notice was the commission charge at the auto sale, the buyers where mostly from the car trade and the buying fee was just as much as the selling fee, talk about a monopolized market.
just another reminder to make sure you know what the fee’s are before you do anything as its a binding contract if you make the winning bid on any item at the auction so pay attention out there and happy bidding
