Last Weeknd Of The Month

29/11/2008 · Leave a Comment

we see the rest of thew year nearly gone this weekend with it being the last of November, the government have dropped the VAT to %15 on all purchases with should be great for us all, but that is no consolation for us selling our stuff in auction rooms and online unless you have are registered with the VAT system here in the uk.

i have been looking for something good to talk about today and going through some of the auction sites as i do, but the usual is all there, and then i was thinking about SEO as i sometimes do, does SEO affect your auction listing ?? well of course it does as you listing page is only a landing and sales page so the title of the item needs to be correct and the description needs to make reference to the title that reconfirmed to the search and helps in its listing, may not be the google search but definitely the site search facility and if its competing with lots of other items that are simeler then you should be listed up there with the rest, a good title to the picture helps to.

a good header remember is essential, confirmation in the following text of the title, basic SEO.

The Season of Good Will

14/11/2008 · Leave a Comment

This is the time of year i like the most nearly Christmas but not even December yet, all the adverts on TV are of the same theme and most promoting all the toys as they do,
my son is the perfect age to and still believes ” like i do ” we watched miricale on 34th street the other day just to get us in the mood, it did the trick,
so now i am going thought some different site’s looking for that little gift that might surprise someone!.
and of course i am on the auction sites,
its sad when ebay have so many shops that only list buy now items as the thought of bidding always excites me. but then again as long as i get a good deal who cares eh, loveleyjubbley has loads of stuff that is set with a reserve so still working on the auction theory, so i still get my kicks there.

Auctions Raise millions for charity’s

29/08/2008 · Leave a Comment

It used to take Cynthia Thomashow as long as six months to raise the $100,000 or so her nonprofit organization needs to run for a year. But with the help of an online charity site, she can raise that sum in as little as a month. “It changed our lives,” says Thomashow, executive director of the New Hampshire Center for Environmental Education, a group that provides environmental educational tools to schools. “It’s a quick and efficient way to raise an operating budget.” Since 2004, Thomashow has raised about $500,000 with the help of online charity sites.

The Web has wrought a sea change in the way nonprofits raise funds through auctions. Charities have long hawked donated items through live auctions, where bidders try to outbid each other publicly, often with the help of a fast-talking auctioneer, or through so-called silent auctions that let potential donors browse through items, then submit bids in writing.

But with online auctions, nonprofits say they can raise more money in less time, selling a coveted item or service, often donated by a celebrity or socialite—say, a meal with Kevin Keegan (NUFC) or Michael Owens boot collection—to the highest bidder from across the Web.
Monkeys, Yachts, or dinner with Allan Shearer, and for a more localized charity some donations from local business for help to gain awareness of there product or services to there more local customer market,

Online charity auctions have raised at least $250 million, according to figures provided by the largest sites, including eBay (EBAY), which runs a program called Giving Works. Others include Charity Folks and loveleyjubbley The biggest player, eBay, has raised $150 million for charity since 1999. Of that total, $50 million was raised in the last year alone. Its Giving Works helps more than 84 million eBay users “support the causes most important to them” and gives 15,000 nonprofits “direct access to this key constituency,” says Kristin Cunningham, general manager of eBay Giving Works.

No item, it seems, is off-limits for auction. Online casino site Goldenpalace placed the winning bid for the right to name a new species of titi monkey discovered in Bolivia by the Wildlife Conservation Society. With $650,000, the casino outbid Ellen DeGeneres to name the monkey callicebus avrei palatti, or “Golden Palace.” Other prizes that have been auctioned for a cause include a 90-foot Ferris wheel and five days on a 157-foot private yacht. Two auctions have even reached seven figures: The most recent lunch with Warren Buffett fetched $2.11 million, and a letter signed by 41 Senate Democrats demanding that Rush Limbaugh apologize for calling antiwar veterans “phony soldiers” hauled in $2.1 million.

The auction-hosting sites get a share of loot, too. Loveleyjubbley started this year and is hoping to help raise million’s for nonprofits through online auctions. Similar to other hosts, loveleyjubbley gets 1% of sold items, the rest goes directly to the charity.
Fund-Raisers Tap Facebook

Besides helping nonprofits save time and money, online auctions often attract a broader audience—and they can build buzz for weeks as bids rise. Best of all, the money is typically unrestricted, so it can be used for operational costs; direct donors often favor specific programs.

As successful as online auctions are, though, most charitable giving still happens off-line. The $1.1 billion in gifts on the Web last year made up just 1% of overall fund-raising, according to a 2008 survey by the Chronicle of Philanthropy. And the online total includes giving through all charity Web sites, not just online auctions. But charity auctions aren’t the only new way the Web is being used to raise money. Fund-raisers are increasingly tapping social-media tools and sites (BusinessWeek, 2/14/08) such as Facebook, and Presidential candidates Barack Obama and John McCain have sophisticated Web fund-raising operations (BusinessWeek, 6/27/08).

Loveleyjubbley wants to encourage British charity’s to start using there auction service for this type of activity, and they are willing to help with the promotion of the auction with local media to the charity such as there local radio station and maybe the local press.

auction madness

26/07/2008 · 1 Comment

Why are we so mad at auctions, the world has gone crazy about the use of them and with the emergence of eBay, that gives anyone with internet access the ability to sell on line in auction style we are even worse.

this dose not seem to be the case for the more conventional auction houses that still seem to get the same sort of people, but then again the UK market place may be a bit different as going out on a Sunday morning most people are ether going to work or to a car boot sale , people who are car booter’s are turning to the online auction’s more and more, to still sell that stuff but with these sites like www.loveleyjubbley.com they are selling at any price rather than being stuck with stuff they would of probably put in the bin
